ImageOn Wednesday, 27th July 2011 some members from the Let's Moove n Groove Dance group attended by invitation from Event Cinemas at Castle Hill in Castle Towers the Grease Sing-A-Long Chicks at the Flicks evening. The group was able to provide some great and energetic pre-entertainment in the foyer near the jukebox. Providing the pre-entertainment helped hype the audience and set the theme for the movie. Many thanks to everyone that was able to spare some time to help out and show case the fun and love of Rock N Roll and dancing.

We are sure that all the patrons enjoyed the famous movie and the biggest blockbuster from 1978, which contained a love story of the 1950s between teens Danny and Sandy played by John Trovolta and Olivia Newton John. The movie contains some all time favourite songs including Summer Nights, Hopelessly Devoted to You, You're the one that I want, Blue Moon and We Go Together.

Let’s Moove n Groove Dance & DJ’s Rock n Roll dancers from all levels enjoyed 2 big days at the Penrith Show that was once again held at the Penrith Showground by Penrith Paceway. LMNG was working alongside our friends at Vintage FM 87.6 on Saturday, 27th August 2011 and Sunday, 28th August 2011. Just like last year there were a lot of families out and about enjoying the many attractions that the Penrith Show has been famous for including wood chopping, horse riding, stalls, amusements, dancing from hip hop to contemporary and of course Rock n Roll, lots of amazing singing talent and much more.

Many thanks for all the encouragement and support from those who were unable to attend and especially for those that committed hours on either 1 or both days to showcase how easy, fun and friendly the original and popular 50s/60s Rock n Roll dancing is. As always it is such a pleasure to be able to sit back afterwards and enjoy a quiet afternoon like we did at Penrith RSL on the Sunday and enjoyed a few more dancers and drinks in the Castlereagh Lounge to the fabulous band “Rockin Rebels“. We hope you will enjoy the photos that will continue to remind us of all the good times had and to come as we continue to socialise, enjoy life and get out and about!

ImageWe know that the large majority of the population thinks about doing new stuff, or allocating time to learning something new, or thinking about wanting to experience or have an experience and that is always a good start. We also definitely know that many have the ability to put it off and come up with lots of valid reasons why they cannot. Our question is “Are they valid reasons or just excuses?”. We will leave that for you to answer.

ImageOnce again Let’s Moove n Groove Dance & DJ together with some of their rock n roll dancers from all levels attended the St Mary’s Spring Festival for 2011. It was another great day shared with some friends that share a common love and interest for Rock n Roll and all things old – Vintage FM 87.6 .  The St Marys Spring Festival in 2011 was a huge hit, with many families, local talent including dancers, singers, bands and more, community members, local council, small business, local community radio stations, stall holders, attractions and amusements and Channel 9 weather reports all out in support of such a fantastic day! We are already looking forward to the September 2012 St Marys Spring Festival.

We were lucky to have the brilliant opportunity to demonstrate on stage what Rock n Roll dancing from the 50s/60s is and how much fun it is. Whilst we were on stage we took the time to conduct a mini rock n roll dance class and had some great support from young and promising little Rock n Roll dancers. This dance class allowed those in the crowd to participate and get a feel for the fun and joy of Rock n Roll dancing. As a token of appreciation for participants we offered a complimentary 2 for 1 pass to pay Week 1 and receive Week 2 free of any of LMNG’s Rock n Roll dancing beginner courses.

ImageOn Saturday, 30th July 2011 at Rydalmere Bowling Club the team at Let's Moove n Groove Dance & DJ together with all the Moovers N Groovers held their 2nd Annual 50s/60s Winter Wonderland Ball. Oh what a night! From diamonte table scatters, balloons, tall glass vases and silver branch sprays to set the scene the night was surely glitz up and dazzled from the start.

The entertainment line up was impressive with Petar our resident music player setting the mood from early on and Steven Head rocking the night with his brilliant ELVIS impersonation during dinner and all the guest's were surely entertained with the interactive performance. Then the night hit its peak once the band, namely "The Fabulous Rhythm Cats" commenced playing all the great ol' hits from the past including Blue Suede Shoes by Carl Perkins, Jail House Rock by Elvis Presley and many more fabulous rock hits to keep all the dancers grooving all night long.

We let the good times roll by learning the Charleston. The Charleston is an experience and a dance that originated and captured the free and wild spirit from the 1920′s. When you hear Charleston you are instantly reverted to the likes of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. However, Charleston received a huge boost in popularity when featured in movies by stars like Rudolph Valentino and Joan Crawford firstly introduced to the public in the Ziegfield Follies of 1923 by the Afro-American Broadway musical “Running Wild”, and became so popular that even today, it is still a symbol for the 1920s Jazz Age.

Over the days, months and years that we have been dancing Rock n Roll one common statement we receive is "I don't fit in because they are all couples or they are already friends", this usually leads to the question how do I fit in and a discussion whereby the questioner opens up about how they feel lonely, sometimes blaming others for not approaching or being approachable and how the individual feels as though they don't know what to say or don't have the social skills to support fitting in because much deeper they don't have the confidence or esteem in one's self.

Let’s Moove n Groove rock n roll dancers were once again supporting another fantastic fundraiser in cooperation with Castle Hill RSL for the local Tallowood Special Needs School. The event is held next door to Castle Hill Bowling Club where we hold regular weekly Rock n Roll dance classes every Thursday night and beginner courses every 5 weeks on Thursday night.

The photos provide a glimpse of the amazing colours, bright and sunny day and fun times that were shared on the day amongst friends and family. We hope you will join us soon and share some of the Rock n Roll spirit that will provide you with lots of joy in your life.

Many thanks to all the moovers n groovers that took some time out of their weekend to support this special event, including those that came along to hand out flyers, provided moral support and DANCED DANCED DANCED. You all rock and are greatly appreciated.

The 4th – 8th July 2011 saw over 150 people enjoying the energetic, fully pumped, colourful and highly entertained dance class week. Every night LMNG gave away Gift Certificates, CD’s, DVD’s and photo frames. The prizes were varied in their purpose: gift certificates for best dressed, CD’s and DVD’s for others that put in an amazing effort and made it difficult for the principles to choose. Congratulations to all that won and there were many especially Friday night when LMNG doubled-up the prizes and included signed CD’s by Dwayne Elix.
